Sassmann develops ‘solar panel grid’ for pigeon protection

<p>Sassmann – based in Ketsch, Germany – offers a specialized “solar panel grid” solution for protecting photovoltaic systems from pigeons. The system is designed to permanently prevent pigeons from nesting.</p>
<p>Sassmann founder Patric Sassmann said operators and prospective owners of PV systems should take pigeon-related risks seriously and adopt preventive measures early, noting that cleaning or repairing damage after the fact is generally more complex than implementing protection in advance.</p>
<p>The “solar panel grid” is suitable not only for new installations but also for existing residential and commercial rooftop PV systems. The company focuses on professional on-site installation and proper mounting. Sassmann’s scope of services also includes the removal of nests and nesting material in compliance with animal welfare regulations, as well as the removal of droppings and other debris and cleaning of gutters. The protection systems are individually adapted to the existing substructure of installed PV systems.</p>

The system is mounted without drilling, gluing, or other interventions on the module frame, ensuring that the manufacturer’s warranty remains intact. For a discreet visual integration of the pigeon protection system, Sassmann uses galvanized steel with an additional black PVC coating. This material combination also provides high weather resistance and corrosion protection.</p>
<p>The surrounding grid closes the open space between the roof surface and the solar modules, preventing pigeons from nesting while maintaining the necessary rear ventilation of the modules.</p>
