<p>New Zealand solar farm developer <a href="https://www.pv-magazine-australia.com/2026/07/13/lodestone-locks-in-finance-for-nz-solar-farm/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Lodestone Energy</a> has conducted a ceremonial groundbreaking and blessing to kick start the construction of the 31.5 MW Central Hawke’s Bay solar farm project.</p>
<p>Located approximately 246 kilometres northeast of Wellington, the <a href="https://www.pv-magazine-australia.com/press-releases/construction-set-to-begin-on-hawkes-bays-first-utility-scale-solar-farm/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Central Hawke’s Bay</a> project is anticipated to generate approximately 50 GWh of electricity annually from March 2027.</p>

<p>The project will use 49,168 solar panels, unspecified string inverter technology and four smart transformer stations, connecting the facility to distributor Centralines’ network.</p>
<p>The 34-hectare site was previously used for dry stock grazing for beef and lamb production and will continue to support sheep grazing after construction is completed.</p>

<p>Developed through a joint venture between Centralines and Lodestone Energy, the project will be Hawke’s Bay’s first utility-scale solar farm.</p>
<p>Centralines Chair Fenton Wilson said the<strong> </strong>project represents a long-term investment in the <a href="https://www.pv-magazine-australia.com/2025/12/05/lodestone-generates-first-power-from-pamu-ra-ki-whitianga-solar-farm/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">future</a> of our region.<strong> </strong></p>
<p>“As a consumer-owned lines company, we are focused on supporting energy resilience, enabling future growth and helping deliver lasting value and competitive pricing options for our consumers,” Wilson said.</p>

<p>Lodestone Energy Managing Director Gary Holden said the project demonstrated what could be achieved through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to renewable energy.</p>
