Ukraine specifies hours eligible for rooftop PV feed-in tariff

<p><a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/07/09/ukraine-updates-solar-feed-in-tariffs/">Ukraine</a>&#8216;s National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC) has announced updated rules for owners of PV systems not exceeding 30 kW in size, clarifying the hours during which electricity generated by the installations is eligible for payment under the <a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/07/09/ukraine-updates-solar-feed-in-tariffs/">Green Tariff scheme</a>.</p>

<p>NERC has clarified the hours during which electricity generated by household solar installations is eligible for green-tariff payments: from 04:00 to 23:00 between April 1 and October 31, and from 06:00 to 21:00 between November 1 and March 31. Electricity outside these periods is instead purchased by the universal service supplier at the applicable hourly day-ahead market price.</p>

<p>The new time-based rules appear designed, among other things, to prevent electricity discharged from batteries outside the specified hours from qualifying for Ukraine’s green tariff. Instead, such electricity is settled at the applicable hourly day-ahead market price.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/07/09/ukraine-updates-solar-feed-in-tariffs/">Green Tariff mechanism</a> is a guaranteed state payment available to households and businesses that sell surplus electricity from their renewable energy installations back to the national power grid. Current tariffs range from UAH 6.13 ($0.14)/kWh for PV systems up to 30 kW to UAH 5.49/kWh for installazions up to 150 kW. </p>

<p>The latest FiT rates entered into force earlier this month and are set to be in effect until Dec. 31, 2029. Owners of previous-commissioned installations will retain their previous rates. A list of formerly approved rates are available on NEURC’s <a href="https://www.nerc.gov.ua/acts/pro-vstanovlennia-zelenykh-taryfiv-na-elektrychnu-enerhiiu-vyroblenu-heneruiuchymy-ustanovkamy-pryvatnykh-domohospodarstv" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">website</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last November, Ukraine amended its <a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2025/11/06/ukraine-amends-loan-scheme-for-home-hybrid-solar-installations/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">loan scheme</a> for households installing hybrid renewable energy systems to a one-time, 30% reimbursement of the principal debt. In March, it announced a <a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/03/16/ukraine-prioritizes-solar-plus-storage-in-renewables-auctions/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">series of amendments</a> to legislative acts concerning energy markets, including the prioritization of solar-plus-storage systems in future renewables auctions.</p>

<p>Ukraine deployed around <a href="https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/01/26/ukraine-deploys-1-5-gw-of-solar-in-2025/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">1.5 GW</a> of solar in 2025, taking cumulative capacity to in excess of 8.5 GW.<br /><br /></p>
